Play Wordle together, live
Word Race is a free multiplayer word game in the style of Wordle. Everyone in a room guesses the same five-letter words at the same time, against one timer, while a live leaderboard shows how far each friend has got and the colours of their latest guess (never the letters). It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no app to install and no account to make.
- Create a room. Enter your name and tap Create a room. You get a five-character code.
- Invite friends. Send the link or read out the code. Up to 30 people can join, even mid-game.
- Pick a mode and start. Choose how many words (15 by default) and the time limit, then go.
Four ways to play
Marathon
The same pool of words for everyone, one timer. Solve in one guess for 6 points, down to 1 point on the sixth. Most points wins.
Race
First to clear the whole pool wins. Miss a word and you move on without it.
Survival
Miss one word and you are out. The last player standing with the most words wins.
Blitz
Everyone gets the same word at the same moment, round by round. Bonus points for the first three to solve it.
Why it works for a group
- Fair. The server picks the words and checks every guess, so nobody can find the answer in their browser.
- Words people know. Answers come from about 1,000 everyday words, not obscure ones. Guesses must be real English words, and a rejected guess costs nothing.
- Clear winners. Every mode has tie-breaks, and the results show every word and how each player did on it.
- Unlimited. Play as many games as you like, with 1 to 50 words each. Play alone to practise.
- Any device. The board and keyboard fit on one phone screen. A dropped connection or a refresh puts you back in the game.
Questions
How do I play Wordle with friends online?
Open games.amittal.dev, enter your name and tap Create a room. Share the link or the five-character room code with your friends. When everyone has joined, the host picks a mode and starts the game. Everyone gets the same words in the same order.
Is Word Race free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no download, no ads and no limit on how many games you play.
How many people can play in one room?
Up to 30 players per room. You can also play alone to practise.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The board and an on-screen keyboard fit on one screen on any phone, and a physical keyboard works on computers. Players on phones and laptops can share one room.
How is the winner decided when two players tie?
Each mode has its own tie-breaks. In Marathon it is points, then words solved, then fewer guesses, then whoever solved their last word first. Players who are still level after every tie-break share the place.
Can someone cheat by looking at the code?
No. The server picks the words and checks every guess, and a word is only sent to a player's browser after that player has finished it.
Are the words hard?
No. Answers come from about 1,000 everyday words, such as smile, beach and pizza. Guesses must be real English words, and a rejected guess does not use up a try.
Can I play more than one Wordle a day?
Yes. Unlike the daily Wordle, you can start as many games as you like, with 1 to 50 words each.
