How to play Imposter

1. Make a room. Type your name, tap Create a room and send the five-character code (or the link) to your friends. Phones and laptops can share a room.
2. Everyone sees the same secret word, except the imposter. In the classic mode the imposter only sees the category; in Undercover they get a similar word and do not know they are the odd one out.
3. Taking turns, each player gives a one-word clue. Too obvious and the imposter learns the word; too vague and you look suspicious.
4. After the clues, discuss and vote. If the imposter gets the most votes they are caught, but in the classic mode they can still win by guessing the word.
5. Players score when the group catches the imposter; the imposter scores big for getting away with it.

Settings

The host can change these in the room before starting:

• Imposter gets: Only the category, A similar word (and is not told) (default Only the category).
• Rounds: 1 to 8 (default 3).
• Clues each per round: 1 to 3 (default 2).
• Seconds per clue: 10 to 90 seconds (default 30 seconds).
• Seconds to discuss: 15 to 300 seconds (default 60 seconds).
